Severe Storms Leave Thousands Without Power in Miami Valley

MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio — Over 5,000 customers are currently without power as severe storms move through the Miami Valley. As of 5:27 p.m. on April 29, 2025, 5,295 AES Ohio customers were reported to be affected.
In addition, Duke Energy noted nine outages in Butler and Warren counties, impacting a total of 22 customers. The storms are expected to continue through the night, causing additional disruptions.
Weather forecasts predict heavy rain and severe thunderstorms developing to the northwest. These storms are expected to move eastward, bringing rainfall of one to three inches, with isolated areas potentially receiving up to five inches. A flood watch is currently in effect in those areas until Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has indicated that Wednesday will likely be the day of greatest concern for storm activity across North Texas, where severe storms are possible along with heavy rain.
Looking forward, the weather is anticipated to clear up by Thursday but more chances for showers and storms are expected on Friday. The weekend forecast indicates dry and pleasant conditions.
