Tri State Severe Storm Forecast

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact the Tri-State area this weekend as a series of frontal boundaries move through the region. A cold front is forecast to pass over the Tri-State tonight, bringing a line of storms that could develop into strong weather.

The National Weather Service has indicated that while the overall risk for severe weather remains low, isolated severe storms cannot be ruled out. “Some storms may produce damaging wind gusts and possibly brief spin-up tornadoes,” said meteorologist Reece Cole. Hail is also a potential hazard, especially for areas in southern Illinois, southern Indiana, and western Kentucky.

Residents can expect storms to arrive in southern Illinois by around 10 p.m. tonight, with the system advancing eastward and exiting the Tri-State by approximately 4 a.m. on Monday. For those planning their weekend, Saturday and Easter Sunday may see pleasant weather with highs in the mid to upper 50s, though showers could return late Sunday and into Monday.

The remainder of Friday is predicted to be partly sunny to mostly cloudy, with temperatures reaching highs in the mid-70s. Winds will be breezy, coming from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph. Overnight, lows will drop to the lower 50s with a chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms.

By Monday, conditions will begin to dry out, although the morning may still carry some lingering showers. Highs that day are forecasted to reach the lower 70s. Tuesday and Wednesday should provide the driest conditions of the workweek, featuring partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies and temperatures around 80 degrees.

Looking ahead, additional storm chances are expected on Thursday and Friday, as the next round of rainy weather approaches the Tri-State. The community is urged to stay updated on local forecasts as conditions can change rapidly.
