Severe Storms Threaten Oklahoma Early Thursday Morning

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Severe storms are expected to move across Oklahoma early Thursday, April 24, causing concern among residents. KOCO 5 Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane warns that the storms could begin impacting the state as early as midnight.
The storm timeline indicates that the Oklahoma Panhandle will experience the most significant activity until midnight, after which the storms are predicted to shift towards western Oklahoma towns such as Sayre, Elk City, and Clinton. By 4 a.m., areas including El Reno, Anadarko, and Chickasha are likely to be affected, with the storm reaching the Oklahoma City metro area around 6 a.m.
The primary concern with these storms is strong winds, which may pose a risk to residents. Meteorologist Lane emphasizes that the tornado risk remains extremely low, allowing people to prepare accordingly.
As the morning progresses, the storms will continue their eastward track, moving towards Holdenville and Davis, with the strongest wind threats remaining prevalent. By 8 a.m., conditions in the affected regions are expected to stabilize as the storm complex moves out.
Residents are urged to stay informed by checking their local weather services and downloading the KOCO 5 app for up-to-date alerts. Meteorologist Lane advises everyone to be weather-aware as the situation develops throughout the morning.
