Albuquerque Storm Severe Thunderstorm Warning

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Albuquerque and Rio Rancho until 3:30 PM on Monday. The storm is expected to bring quarter-size hail and wind gusts as high as 60 miles per hour.

Residents in the affected areas should take precautions as the storm moves eastward. The most recent updates indicate that neighborhoods such as North Valley, Paradise Hills, and the west side along Coors will experience the worst weather. The storm is currently transitioning toward Knob Hill and areas around the Sunport, impacting the Northeast Heights.

The hail core of this storm appears to follow Central Avenue toward Coors, Old Town, and downtown Albuquerque. All residents in the eastern areas, including Knob Hill and the University area, should remain vigilant for hail and high winds over the next hour.

Tracking data suggests the storm is moving at approximately 35 miles per hour. Forecasted timing indicates that specific areas will be affected shortly, including Knob Hill at 2:57 PM and Tanawan at 3:02 PM.

Heavy rainfall associated with the storm may result in flash flooding across parts of Albuquerque. Wind damage to trees and unsecured objects is also a strong possibility due to the forecasted gusts.

Additionally, a health alert has been issued for Bernalillo County, suggesting that smoke from nearby wildfires and dust from the thunderstorms could impact air quality. The alert began at 11 AM and has been extended until 8 PM. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially those with breathing issues.
