Severe Thunderstorms Miami Valley Weather Alerts

MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for nearly the entire Miami Valley region until 7 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service has also issued multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for several counties, including Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Warren. These warnings are effective until 2:30 p.m. for most areas and until 2:45 p.m. for Clinton and Warren counties.

Forecasters at Storm Center 7 are monitoring the weather closely, noting that parts of the region could experience strong to severe thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and early evening. Meteorologist Britley Ritz indicates that the Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the area under a Level 3 (Enhanced) Risk for severe weather.

“We expect storms to develop late this morning and move out by early evening,” Ritz said during a broadcast. “Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats, and while an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, that risk remains low.”

Temperatures are expected to reach the lower 80s today, but the stormy conditions will impact outdoor plans. Ritz cautioned residents to stay indoors during severe weather.

The Storm Center team will provide updates on the timing and impacts of the weather during the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. broadcasts on News Center 7.

As of the latest reports, storm activity is intensifying, and residents are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates and take necessary precautions.
