Severe Thunderstorms Expected Friday in New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Severe thunderstorms are forecasted for New Hampshire on Friday as humidity levels remain elevated. The National Weather Service indicates that while temperatures will be warm, peaking in the 70s and near 80 degrees, the risk of strong storms is increasing throughout the day.
According to meteorologist Jacqueline Thomas, showers and thunderstorms are likely, especially in the southern part of the state. The main window for severe weather is expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., with conditions ripe for heavy downpours, gusty winds, and hail.
A flood watch has been issued for most of New Hampshire from noon Friday until midnight, with some areas possibly receiving up to 3 inches of rain, leading to localized flooding concerns. Thomas warned that repeated downpours could amplify this risk.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook on Thursday, alerting residents of the potential for damaging winds and hail. “Heat and humidity will increase today,” the alert stated, indicating that these conditions may lead to particularly severe thunderstorms.
Rain and thunderstorms are also anticipated on Saturday, marking potentially the 12th consecutive Saturday with measurable rain in Concord. Sunday, however, is expected to bring relief with more sunshine and lower humidity, along with comfortable temperatures in the 70s.
As the storms approach, local residents are advised to stay weather-aware. The WMUR app offers push notifications for weather updates specific to user locations, enabling timely alerts about impending storms.
