Baltimore Thunderstorms June 2025

BALTIMORE, Maryland – A frontal boundary stretching over north central Maryland is set to bring thunderstorms to the area this weekend, according to the latest weather report from local meteorologists.

On Friday, June 13, 2025, a mix of warm, humid air from the southeast and cooler air from the north will collide, creating perfect conditions for storm development. Meteorologists warn that these storms could potentially produce heavy rain and damaging winds exceeding 58 mph.

Justin Berk, a local meteorologist, explains that the ongoing weather pattern is influenced by a low-pressure system in Central Missouri. This system is pumping warm, moist air into the region, leading to rising air and cloud formation.

The stationary front, identified near Interstate 68/70 in central Maryland, is expected to be the primary area where thunderstorms will develop. Some storms might also spin, which raises the possibility of large hail or even an isolated tornado.

“If you have plans outdoors, it’s vital to be prepared for sudden thunderstorms,” Berk noted. “Although there may be dry hours, the risk of lightning and severe storms is significant.”

The forecast for Saturday includes potential waves of showers and thunderstorms with the greatest risk occurring in the late afternoon and evening hours. Rain is expected to continue into Father’s Day, with cooler temperatures and cloud cover providing a contrast to the warm, humid conditions of Friday.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the changing weather and have safety plans in place as conditions can shift rapidly.
