ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) – A powerful storm system is set to sweep across the nation, bringing severe weather this weekend.

Weather experts have issued two additional First Alert Weather Days for the weekend, with heavy rain expected Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service indicates that the most significant risk for severe storms, including dangerous wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes, will occur Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

“This storm system is quite robust and poses a serious threat, especially during the overnight hours,” said Cutter, a meteorologist with Atlanta News First. “Residents should remain vigilant and stay updated with the latest forecasts.”

Forecasts indicate that rain will begin on Saturday morning, escalating by the evening as the storm system approaches. The overall weather pattern will improve early next week, with sunny conditions predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday.

In other parts of the Midwest, including Omaha, Neb., chilly temperatures have marked the start of the week, with morning lows dipping into the 20s. However, warmer air is expected to usher in highs in the 40s by mid-week. The area anticipates a light chance of snow showers moving through the region, especially north of Interstate 80. A First Alert 6 Weather Day has also been declared for Friday due to expected snowfall, which may impact commutes.

“Most of the snowfall is projected to occur between commutes, but traveling may still be hazardous,” warned a spokesperson from WOWT. “We expect the snow to clear rapidly over the weekend, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s by Sunday, and possibly reaching the 70s next week.”

In the Mid-South, Monday saw bright sunshine and warm temperatures, reaching the 60s and lower 70s. High pressure will provide a stable and pleasant atmosphere for the beginning of the week, though meteorologists foresee a shift later. Rain and thunderstorm chances are expected to re-enter the forecast late Wednesday into Thursday, indicating the end of the calm weather.

“The change in weather could bring heavy rain and strong storms by late Friday into Saturday,” said Patrick Ellis, a meteorologist. “Residents are urged to stay prepared for any severe weather alerts that may arise as the week progresses.”

As the region braces for severe weather, residents are advised to follow updates on their local news channels and weather services to ensure their safety through the upcoming storms.
