Severe Weather In Massachusetts April 2025

EAST BOSTON, Mass. — A new weather system is moving toward Massachusetts, bringing the possibility of severe thunderstorms this weekend. Meteorologist Jacqueline Thomas reports scattered showers and breezy conditions for the region tonight.

Residents can expect temperatures to drop into the mid-50s this evening as a cold front influences weather patterns. The storms may begin to arrive late Thursday, with the greatest intensity expected Friday afternoon. While current forecasts indicate a low risk of severe weather, caution is advised as conditions can change quickly.

On Thursday, warmer weather will precede the storm with highs reaching nearly 70 degrees, but winds from the north and northwest are expected to create a cooling effect.

In the Birmingham area, significant storms are anticipated on Thursday, with a slight risk for severe conditions, including gusty winds and hail for parts of northwest Alabama. A first warning has been issued for potential disruptions to outdoor activities Friday.

Storms are expected to weaken as they reach Massachusetts, but meteorologists urge residents to stay informed about changing conditions. Thunderstorms may bring heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.

The weather will be monitored closely as winds continue to gust over 25 miles per hour. Abundant humidity combined with unstable air could lead to rapid weather changes.

Looking ahead to the weekend, there will be a break from the unseasonably warm temperatures as highs drop to the low 60s by Saturday. This cooling trend may be welcomed after several warm days.

Residents are encouraged to download weather apps for real-time updates as weather warnings are issued. Stay safe and plan accordingly as weather events unfold.
