North Texas Severe Weather Storm Forecast

DALLAS, Texas — North Texas is bracing for a series of severe weather events this week as storm chances increase starting Wednesday morning and continuing through Saturday morning. Meteorologist Evan Andrews from FOX 4 Weather provides a detailed forecast suggesting that severe storms could bring damaging winds and large hail to the region.

Initial storm activity is expected to kick off early Wednesday, primarily affecting areas north of the DallasFort Worth (DFW) metroplex ahead of a cold front. “Any storm could have gusty winds and hail the size of pocket change,” Andrews noted. By 8 a.m., the storms will reach northern counties and areas just west of Fort Worth, moving towards the Metroplex by 10 a.m., with the cold front itself expected to pass through around noon.

As the front progresses, quick storms could occur, although the afternoon should see drier conditions with temperatures rising into the 80s. Residents living east and southeast of Dallas will face continued storm risks, accompanied by a humid atmosphere, Andrews said.

The front is predicted to stall south of the area before lifting north in the evening, reigniting storm development as a strong disturbance approaches. Elevated supercells capable of producing very large hail—potentially larger than egg-sized—are anticipated, particularly from DFW northwards.

Following Wednesday’s storm activity, rain and storm chances will persist into Friday and Saturday. “While not every day will be a washout, the likelihood of heavier rain increases by the weekend,” Andrews stated. Rainfall totals could exceed 2 inches in some areas, which is part of the forecast warning for the potential severe thunderstorms.

By Saturday, the storms are expected to move out by morning, with leftover cooler conditions prevailing across North Texas. The temperature is anticipated to range from the 60s in the north and west to the 70s in the DFW area, potentially reaching the 80s in the southeast.

Sunday will likely see a return of drier weather but with continued cool temperatures. Winds from the north will contribute to wind chills reaching the 30s in the morning. The day will struggle to break out of the 50s, with the average high in the region typically around 75 degrees.

Looking ahead, Monday’s forecast indicates cold mornings in the 30s in outlying areas, but with sunshine leading to a high in the mid-60s. A gradual warm-up is expected through the week, but temperatures will remain below seasonal averages. Tuesday is projected to be partly sunny and comfortable, while another chance for rain and storms returns for Wednesday.

The FOX 4 Weather Team warns that given the current weather patterns, residents should stay tuned for ongoing updates and prepare for the potential impact of severe storms in the coming days.
