Severe Weather Storm Clouds Front

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A strong, fast-moving cold front is expected to bring severe weather to the NewsChannel 5 coverage area from Sunday night into early Monday morning.

The Storm 5 Alert is in effect from 8 PM tonight until 3 AM, with a Tornado Watch issued for far western counties in Kentucky. Storms may bring hazards ranging from tornadoes to heavy rain, potentially leading to isolated flash flooding.

As the cold front approaches, meteorologists are focusing on the chance for severe storms during the overnight hours. “The conditions are ripe for severe weather, and we advise everyone to be cautious and prepared,” said a spokesperson for the Nashville Weather Center.

Temperatures tonight are expected to drop to a low of 59 degrees with winds from the south-southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour. Moving into Monday, clouds are forecasted to gradually decrease, with high temperatures reaching around 63 degrees and shifting to a north-northwest wind at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

In the days following the cold front, quieter weather is anticipated on Monday and Tuesday. However, forecasters warn that another system could bring more active weather midweek.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and plan accordingly as the situation evolves.
