North Carolina Weather Forecast February 2025

CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA (WTVD) — Residents of Central North Carolina should brace for an unpredictable week of weather starting Sunday. Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue overnight, leading into a day characterized by strong winds and the potential for severe weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a level one risk of severe thunderstorms for Central NC on Sunday. The primary concern is damaging straight-line winds, with meteorologists indicating that the most significant risk of severe weather will occur between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. An isolated tornado is also possible, although its likelihood remains low.

“The winds could be quite damaging,” said an ABC11 meteorologist. “Residents should remain indoors during the peak hours and stay tuned to updates as conditions develop.”

Temperatures are expected to reach the 60s, accompanied by breezy conditions throughout the day. A high wind warning is in effect for areas across the Triangle, indicating sustained winds that could lead to power outages and downed trees.

After Sunday’s weather disruptions, temperatures will drop significantly, ushering in a chilly President’s Day, with highs expected to remain well below average. The ABC11 Weather Team is monitoring a system developing near Colorado, which could further influence the weather patterns across North Carolina on Monday.

Additionally, Central NC could experience winter weather on Wednesday, with forecasters predicting a mix of sleet and freezing rain overnight. As of now, snow accumulation appears unlikely for most areas.

Thursday is anticipated to be brisk and dry, but temperatures will remain low, plunging into the teens and low 20s by Friday. Local officials are urging residents to stay prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
