Dallas Shooting Real Estate Agent Ashlee Long

DALLAS, Texas — A tragic confrontation in Downtown Dallas led to the death of 28-year-old Ashlee Long, a local real estate agent, on April 5, 2025. Kendrick Finch, 34, is accused of shooting Long and a male friend after an alleged brush with Finch’s Mercedes vehicle.

According to police reports, Long was leaving a bar with friends when one of her companions briefly touched the passenger side of a Mercedes as they crossed the street. Finch reportedly exited the vehicle wielding a gun and opened fire on the group.

Long was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries, while her friend was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds. Finch, who reportedly has a criminal record, turned himself in to authorities following the incident and has been charged with murder.

During a bond hearing on May 7, Finch’s attorneys sought to reduce his bond, which was set at $500,000. Prosecutors argued against the reduction, asserting that Finch’s actions represented a significant escalation of violence. They detailed that Finch was the first to step out of his car brandishing a weapon and fired multiple rounds in a crowded area.

The courtroom heard testimony from various witnesses, including Finch’s mother and law enforcement, as well as graphic video evidence of the shooting. Henry Long, father of the victim, expressed his desire for justice on social media, stating, “Ashlee’s life mattered. And so does justice. Kendrick Finch must remain behind bars — permanently.”

The video of the shooting showed the moments leading to Long’s death and was deemed suitable for viewing during the hearing, although it contained graphic content.

Prosecutors emphasized that there was no justification for Finch’s use of lethal force. The defense claimed that Finch acted in self-defense, though the judge ultimately decided against reducing his bond.

After the hearing, Finch remains in custody as the legal proceedings continue. Long’s family mourns her loss, emphasizing the trauma inflicted by gun violence.
