Shooting Leaves 30-Year-Old Man in Critical Condition in Bed-Stuy

Brooklyn, New York — A 30-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot late Monday night in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. outside 203 Sumpter Street, near Rockaway Avenue.

According to police reports, officers responded to the scene and found the man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and leg. Emergency Medical Services took him to Brookdale Hospital for treatment. His current condition remains serious.

Video captured moments before the shooting appears to show a sidewalk barbecue taking place outside the residence. Eyewitnesses stated that a festive atmosphere quickly changed when gunfire erupted. An overturned grill was left on the pavement along with food scattered around.

Detectives marked evidence at the scene, placing plastic cups over shell casings found on the sidewalk and street. The swift response from law enforcement led to the arrest of 22-year-old Nasir Pinsett less than 30 minutes after the shooting took place.

Pinsett is facing several charges related to weapons offenses. Police are continuing their investigation to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
