Shooting Near Radford University Prompts Campus Lockdown

RADFORD, Va. — A shooting near Radford University prompted officials to issue a “Secure-In-Place” alert on campus Thursday afternoon. The alert was disseminated around 3:30 p.m., warning students and staff of a potential threat.
According to Radford police, the incident occurred in the 1400 block of East Main Street. The shooting has raised concerns regarding the safety of the campus community, leading to immediate measures to secure the area.
Shortly after the initial alert, a follow-up message at approximately 3:45 p.m. reported that law enforcement is actively searching for two Black males believed to be connected to the incident. One suspect is described as having dreadlocks and wearing a shirt with white, yellow, and red colors, while the other was seen in a green long-sleeved shirt.
