Shooting Outside Greensboro Sheetz Leaves One Seriously Injured
GREENSBORO, N.C. — One person was seriously injured in a shooting outside a Sheetz gas station on Hornaday Road Sunday evening, according to Guilford County EMS officials.
Emergency units responded to the scene just before 5 p.m. after reports of gunfire. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and is currently in critical but stable condition.
Guilford County EMS deployed one ambulance and two supervisor units to the scene. The Greensboro Police Department (GPD) is investigating the incident, but no details about the circumstances leading to the shooting have been disclosed.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000. The investigation remains ongoing, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
This incident comes amid a broader conversation about community safety in the Piedmont Triad area. Earlier this month, Raleigh Up Winston-Salem hosted a meeting to address rising crime rates and explore solutions to combat violence. The organization emphasized the importance of engaging young people in community service and crime prevention efforts.
In a separate but related development, a benefit event was held Sunday for fallen Greensboro Police Officer Michael Horan, who was killed in the line of duty on December 23. The event, organized by Savage Roasters and Team Patience Jeep Club, featured food trucks, raffles, and a live auction to raise funds for Horan’s family. Attendees described Horan as a dedicated officer and a selfless individual who always put others first.
Meanwhile, in Davie County, four individuals were arrested after driving a stolen car. The vehicle, taken from a Salisbury dealership on Saturday morning, was spotted by a deputy, leading to a brief pursuit and subsequent arrests. The driver, Pieter Harrison Jr., admitted to stealing the car, while passenger Amber Vaughn attempted to flee but was apprehended nearby.
In High Point, three people were injured and three others displaced after a duplex fire on Pilgrim Avenue. Firefighters rescued two individuals from the burning building, while three others escaped on their own. All victims were hospitalized, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
As the community grapples with these incidents, local organizations continue to seek ways to address violence and support those affected by tragedy.
