Silver Alert Canceled After Missing Man Found Safe in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has canceled a Silver Alert for a 62-year-old man who was reported missing after he was found safe. Carl Scanlan, who has early onset dementia, was last seen on Friday, February 21, 2025, around 1:00 p.m. at the downtown Tulsa City County Library, located at 400 Civic Center.
Scanlan, a white male, stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 189 pounds. He has a goatee and a ponytail, and he was last seen wearing a brown baseball cap, a grey and white sweater, blue jeans, and brown boots.
Earlier, authorities expressed concern for Scanlan’s well-being, stating that he could have been heading to 1231 South 73rd East Avenue, a known location he frequents. Tulsa Police Department officials indicated that any sightings or information in relation to Scanlan could be reported by calling 911 or the department’s non-emergency line at 918-596-9222.
“We are glad to report that Mr. Scanlan has been located safely,” an OHP spokesperson stated. “We appreciate the community’s assistance in spreading the word and keeping an eye out for him.”
This incident underscores the important role that Silver Alerts play in quickly disseminating information when vulnerable individuals go missing. The program is designed to solicit help from the public in locating missing persons, particularly those suffering from cognitive impairments.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol encourages anyone who sees individuals displaying signs of disorientation or confusion to contact law enforcement, as prompt recognition and reporting can be crucial in ensuring their safety.
