COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A small aircraft made an emergency landing early Wednesday morning, leading to significant traffic disruptions on Powers Boulevard. The incident occurred around 4:14 a.m. near the intersection of North Powers Boulevard and Barnes Road.

According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD), there were three individuals on board the plane, but fortunately, none suffered injuries. It has been confirmed that all parties involved are accounted for.

The aircraft, which sustained visible damage, began leaking fuel following the landing. Firefighters are on the scene working to contain the leak while ensuring the safety of the area. Traffic has been heavily impacted, with the Colorado Department of Transportation reporting that two southbound lanes of Powers Boulevard are closed.

CSFD has advised drivers to exercise caution when approaching the area, suggesting alternative routes and reduced speeds due to the presence of emergency responders.

The cause of the emergency landing remains under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and is expected to respond to the situation.
