Snow Squall Warning Issued For Niagara Region

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for the Niagara region, with heavy snowfall expected over the next 24 hours. Officials from Environment Canada advise residents to anticipate up to 50 cm of snow accumulation, accompanied by poor visibility.

The snowstorm is forecasted to begin around noon today and continue into Thursday morning. With the potential for rapidly changing weather conditions, non-essential travel is discouraged until the situation improves.

Various winter weather warnings, including extreme cold, are in effect across the province. The prairies, particularly the western region, are finally experiencing a break from the extreme cold.

Niagara Student Transportation alerts parents to potential delays in school bus schedules due to 70 km/h wind gusts and blowing snow. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and drive defensively.

Flights at Toronto’s Pearson airport may also be affected, with cancellations reported for some routes to Europe.
