Social Media Predictor Warns of Major PNW Earthquake Risk

SEATTLE, Washington — An earthquake researcher believes a magnitude 8.0 quake could strike the Pacific Northwest in the near future. Brent Dmitruk, known for his predictions on social media, recently expressed his concerns on KIRO Newsradio’s ‘The John Curley Show.’
A study reveals there is a 15% chance that a major earthquake could hit the Cascadia fault line, which stretches from Northern Vancouver Island, Canada, to Northern California. If it occurs, cities like Seattle may experience coastal land sinking by more than six feet.
‘It’s all about the movement of the North American plate right now,’ Dmitruk said. ‘Even though the Cascadia subduction zone is supposed to be moving inward, I suspect it could be triggered by a northward movement, disturbing the current dormancy.’
Dmitruk, who does not have formal education in seismology, has gained attention for accurately predicting seismic events, including a quake in Northern California in 2024. ‘What is it about you?’ Curley asked. Dmitruk responded that he possesses a talent for ‘pattern recognition’ paired with strong instincts.
His interest sparked after a series of powerful earthquakes shook the hotel where he was staying in the southern Philippines in 2019. ‘Suddenly, I started getting vibes from these earthquakes,’ he recalled.
Now, he warns people in Washington to be vigilant. ‘There’s a very elevated chance that it happens by summer of next year,’ he stated. Dmitruk believes the timing may range from this summer to the next.
The last significant quake along the Cascadia fault line occurred in the year 1700. Dmitruk aims to spread awareness and encourage preparedness in the face of potential disaster.
