Social Security Payment Schedule Revealed for June 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The next batch of Social Security payments will be distributed soon, with the full payment schedule released for June 2025. This month’s checks will vary based on when recipients were born and when they began receiving benefits.
The first payments were sent out earlier this week to beneficiaries who have been receiving benefits since before May 1997, as well as those who also receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI). For other recipients, payment dates are determined by their birthdates.
Social Security payments are issued monthly to individuals who applied for retirement, survivor, or disability benefits. Payments are sent in waves throughout the month. Typically, the initial payments go out on the second Wednesday of June, followed by two additional distributions on the following Wednesdays depending on birthdates.
However, an exemption exists for long-term beneficiaries and those receiving both Social Security and SSI; their payments are issued on the same date each month. For these recipients, Social Security checks are mailed on the 3rd of the month and SSI payments are sent on the 1st.
If a payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, adjustments take place. For example, when March 3 fell on a weekend last year, Social Security recipients received their payments earlier on March 1.
Another significant change affects payments starting September 30, when the White House will end the issuance of paper Social Security checks. From that date forward, all payments will be made electronically to increase security and reduce costs. This transition comes as only a small fraction of checks are mailed each month compared to the number of direct deposits.
Beneficiaries expecting a check can check its status, but the Social Security Administration advises to wait three days past the anticipated mailing date before reporting any issues. To report a problem or for more information, beneficiaries can call 1-800-772-1213. It is noted that calling earlier in the day or later in the week can lead to shorter wait times.
