Social Security Administration Payment Schedule December 2024

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced significant changes to the payment schedule for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries in December 2024. Due to the first day of December falling on a Sunday, SSI payments scheduled for December 1 will be issued on the preceding business day, which is Friday, November 29, 2024.

SSI recipients can expect to receive two payments in December. The first payment, worth up to $943 for individuals, $1,415 for couples, and $472 for essential persons, will be distributed on November 29. Additionally, because January 1, 2025, falls on a weekend, the January SSI payment will be issued on December 31, 2024.

The payment amounts for SSI have increased by 3.2% due to the cost of living adjustment (COLA) for 2024. This increase is intended to help beneficiaries keep pace with inflation and cover their daily living expenses.

For other Social Security beneficiaries, including those receiving retirement, survivor, and disability insurance (RSDI) benefits, the payment schedule also has some adjustments. RSDI beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month will receive their December benefits on December 24, instead of the fourth Wednesday of the month, due to Christmas Eve.

Beneficiaries can use the SSA calculator to determine their exact payment amounts and can manage their benefits through their My Social Security account. This account allows users to update direct deposit information, request replacement Social Security cards, and receive updates about the COLA.
