Playstation Network Outage

Gamers worldwide hoping to engage with their PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 consoles on Monday evening faced significant disruptions due to an extensive outage impacting Sony‘s gaming network. Sony has confirmed that the outage affects all PlayStation services, including those on PS Vita, PS3, PS4, and PS5, as well as online web services.

According to an update posted at 9:21 PM ET, users “might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features.” Sony has assured users that they are working to resolve the issue as promptly as possible, though no specific cause or estimated resolution time has been provided.

Attempting to access the network has resulted in error codes like PS5 Error Code WS-116522-7, signaling a failure in system software updates. Players have reported being unable to sign in, launch multiplayer games, or even some single-player games that require online connectivity for activation, though offline games continue to function normally.

The disruption comes shortly after the resolution of another bug earlier in the day, though Sony has not confirmed any link between the two incidents. As of now, there is no information on what triggered the outage, and a timeline for restoration remains uncertain.

An individual interviewed by Radio New Zealand (RNZ) reported that all game and store pages remained blank, and their console appeared to lack server connectivity, highlighting the widespread nature of these issues. Sony’s efforts to restore service continue, and they advised users to remain patient as they address the outage.
