South Florida Braces for Final Days of Rainy Season Amid Continued Showers
As South Florida approaches the end of its rainy season, residents are preparing for a few more days of wet weather. The rainy season, which began on May 15, is set to conclude this Tuesday, but the region is not yet out of the woods in terms of rainfall.
According to weather forecasts, the weekend ahead is expected to see more rain, contrary to the typical transition into a quieter weather pattern this time of year. Fort Lauderdale, in particular, has experienced a significant rainfall surplus since the start of the rainy season, with Miami-Dade and Broward counties also seeing substantial rainfall.
For Friday, winds are expected to shift off the water, bringing a strong breeze and increased moisture that will fuel the risk of passing showers, especially during the afternoon. High temperatures will remain mild in the mid 80s, with manageable humidity levels. However, the weekend will likely see times of showers and thunderstorms, with the highest rain chances on Saturday in southern locations before becoming more widespread on Sunday.
The stalled front across the Florida Straits will continue to influence the weather through mid-next week, leading to additional showers. It is not until Wednesday or Thursday, with the potential arrival of a fall front, that the region might experience lower humidity, drier conditions, and milder temperatures.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Leslie is the only active system and is forecast to become a remnant low over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the next couple of days. An area of low pressure near the Cape Verde Islands also has a chance to develop before moving into unfavorable conditions over the weekend).
