Snowfall In Southeast Michigan January 2025

Southeast Lower Michigan is preparing for a winter weather event as a cold front brings snow and frigid temperatures to the region. Meteorologists predict snowfall to begin Friday afternoon, with accumulations of 1-2 inches expected across most areas and up to 3 inches in some locations.

The National Weather Service reports that the snow will start around noon on Friday, continuing through the afternoon and early evening. Wind chills are expected to remain in the single digits, making for hazardous conditions during the evening commute. A second round of snow is forecasted to arrive Sunday and persist into Monday.

Emmy-award winning Meteorologist Kim Adams of the 4Warn Weather Team emphasized the importance of staying prepared. ‘This is a quick-moving system, but it will bring significant snowfall and cold temperatures,’ Adams said. ‘Residents should plan for slippery roads and reduced visibility during the peak snowfall hours.’

High temperatures throughout the week are expected to remain below average, with daytime highs struggling to reach the mid-20s. The cold snap is part of a broader pattern affecting much of the Midwest, with similar conditions reported in neighboring states.

Local officials are urging residents to take precautions, including checking their vehicles’ antifreeze levels and ensuring they have emergency supplies on hand. The Michigan Department of Transportation has already deployed salt trucks to major roadways in anticipation of the snow.
