‘Special Forces’ Star Quits Hours Before Season 4 Finale
Los Angeles, CA — In a surprising turn of events, former NFL star Randall Cobb withdrew from Fox’s reality show, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, just hours before the season finale. This decision came on the eighth and final day of the intense training camp.
Cobb was one of six remaining recruits participating in a wartime simulation exercise in the Moroccan desert. The recruits had to navigate the dark terrain, locate a safe house, and work in teams to avoid capture by faux enemies. As tensions rose, Cobb admitted in a confessional, “I’m worried about freezing in situations I’ve never been in before.”
During the exercise, Cobb, Gia Giudice, and Andrew East found themselves surrounded and “captured” by enemy forces, which added to the stress of the situation. With their heads covered and hands bound, Cobb decided to signal his withdrawal by saying, “V.W. V.W. Please, please.”
After his exit, Cobb expressed that the situation felt too real and caused him to panic. “It just felt too real. I completely panicked,” he said. The show’s director, Mark “Billy” Billingham, empathized with Cobb’s experience, recalling his own capture during military service. He described it as one of the scariest moments in his life, with overwhelming thoughts racing through his mind.
While Cobb’s decision drew sympathy from some staff members, director Rodolfo “Rudy” Reyes expressed disappointment, stating, “I can’t believe he’s V.W.’d. He was one of the strongest recruits we had.” Cobb’s exit leaves five contestants remaining: Andrew East, Gia Giudice, Kody Brown, Shawn Johnson, and Brianna LaPaglia, who will move on to the final challenge of capture and interrogation.
The season finale of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test is set to air Thursday at 9 p.m. on Fox.
