Spectrum Outage South Carolina October 2024

Spectrum, the telecommunications giant, has announced new restoration dates for South Carolina customers affected by network outages caused by Hurricane Helene. The outages, which have persisted for nearly three weeks, have left thousands without service across several counties.

In a statement released on their website at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Spectrum acknowledged the continued difficulties faced by their customers and assured them of ongoing efforts to restore connectivity. “We continue to make progress repairing our network and have completed restoration in many counties in North and South Carolina,” the statement read. “We recognize that thousands of customers are still experiencing service disruptions, and we remain committed to restoring connectivity as quickly as possible.”

The company had previously anticipated a full restoration of services to all accessible and powered locations by Wednesday, October 16. However, several factors have delayed this process, including the extent of the damage inflicted by Hurricane Helene and the challenges of accessing the hardest-hit areas safely.

As of Wednesday evening, Spectrum reported significant restoration progress in South Carolina. Anderson County has seen 93% of customers’ services restored, with an estimated 3,553 users still experiencing outages. Greenville County, heavily impacted, has 92% of services back online, with 14,557 customers awaiting restoration. Laurens, Pickens, and Spartanburg counties are similarly experiencing gradual improvements, with predicted completion of service restoration by October 21.

In North Carolina, Spectrum expects to complete restoration efforts across all but three counties by October 19. Buncombe, McDowell, and Polk counties are anticipated to have services back by Monday, October 21.

The company continues collaboration with local power authorities and deployment of over 400 technicians and engineers to resolve the outages swiftly. “Working together with the local power authorities, we have made significant progress restoring service to customers affected by Hurricane Helene,” Spectrum confirmed. Notably, Greenville, South Carolina, remains a focal point for restoration, with 130 crews specifically assigned to the area.

Spectrum’s efforts are ongoing, with constant communication to update affected customers on their specific service restoration timelines. The impact of Hurricane Helene remains evident, necessitating prolonged restoration efforts to ensure every customer regains full service.
