EA Sports Unveils FC 26: Gameplay Improvements and New Features

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — EA Sports has launched its latest football video game, FC 26, raising questions among fans about its gameplay improvements compared to earlier versions. After investing 217 hours into FC 25, I have a clear perspective on what has changed and what remains consistent.

The gameplay of FC 26 generally feels smoother, with a significant emphasis on player passing accuracy. Players lacking strong passing attributes struggle to deliver the ball effectively, making skill crucial for teamwork. For example, Arsenal‘s Viktor Gyokeres, with a strength attribute of 91 and sprint speed of 92, is gaining popularity for his performance in the game.

Another notable change is in the tackling mechanics. In FC 25, tackles often failed to result in ball possession, leading to player frustration. FC 26 has improved this aspect, as players now react more realistically to tackles, enhancing the likelihood of gaining possession after a challenge.

Speedy players continue to dominate, particularly in Ultimate Team mode where fast players are typically more sought after and valued than slower, higher-rated ones. Moreover, the game has redefined player fatigue mechanics, enabling players to maintain better stamina throughout matches. Meanwhile, “Authentic” gameplay mode introduces an added layer of challenge, requiring skills beyond traditional gameplay that alters match outcomes.

Career mode features and AI logic have seen updates, enhancing realism in transfer dealings and managerial tasks, making team management more engaging. Additionally, Ultimate Team has revised features including new tournaments and a penalty system for players who exit matches prematurely, promoting fair play.

Despite knowing a perfect football video game may never exist, FC 26 nevertheless offers significant enhancements and refinements. The overall gameplay feels better, leading players to believe it deserves considerable attention, even if Clubs mode requires adjustments for collaborative play.
