South Central Texas Thunderstorms March 2025

San Antonio, Texas — The first full week of spring 2025 is ushering in an active weather pattern across South Central Texas, promising strong thunderstorms with potential hail and gusty winds. Meteorologists anticipate storms to move in from the north on Sunday, with conditions remaining conducive for severe weather.

As the day progresses, forecasters warn that while thunderstorms may begin to lose their intensity, isolated showers and possibly a few rumbles of thunder may still occur. Residents with outdoor plans on Sunday evening are advised to stay alert and keep radar devices handy to avoid getting caught in the rain.

“Although storms are forming, the severity will taper off as the day continues,” said Sarah Spivey, a member of the KSAT Weather Authority Team. “It’s always wise to have a shelter plan ready, especially as the weather can change quickly.”

Looking ahead to Monday through Wednesday, the weather is expected to calm down with no significant precipitation. High temperatures will hover around 90 degrees, and humidity will continue to create a muggy atmosphere.

“This brief lull in storm activity doesn’t signal the end of rainfall for the week, however,” Shelby Ebertowski, another meteorologist at KSAT, noted. “From Thursday to Friday, we expect widespread rain across the region, which could range from one to two inches, a welcome change amid ongoing drought conditions.”

The forecast indicates this may be the best chance for much-needed rain in recent months, providing relief to parched areas affected by the multi-year drought gripping South Central Texas. Authorities are optimistic that the predicted rainfall will help replenish local water supplies.

The KSAT Weather Authority will continue monitoring the storm developments and provide updated forecasts as conditions evolve. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and follow weather advisories during this active weather week.
