Police Standoff Chase Marina Del Rey

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (AP) — A suspect is in custody following a tense standoff with police on Friday after leading authorities on a high-speed chase through West Los Angeles. The pursuit began around 10:30 a.m. and was reported to possibly involve a domestic violence incident stemming from Hollywood.

During the incident, AIR7 provided aerial coverage as the suspect, driving a white Ford Mustang, maneuvered through busy streets and at one point traveled on the wrong side of the road, creating a dangerous situation for other motorists.

The chase concluded when the suspect stopped on the shoulder of the Mindanao Way offramp from the 90 Freeway in Marina del Rey. Initially, he remained inside the vehicle and engaged in a standoff with police for several minutes, refusing to exit his car.

At one point, the suspect briefly stepped out to communicate with officers but quickly returned to his vehicle. This prompted police to take swift action, swiftly rushing the suspect, pulling him from the Mustang, and placing him in handcuffs.

Authorities also took a woman from the passenger side of the car, though her relationship to the suspect or involvement in the incident has not been disclosed.

The situation has raised concerns about the safety of the public during such pursuits, as officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the initial domestic violence report that led to the chase.
