Star-Studded Cast for New Film ‘Mother’s Pride’ Announced
The British film industry is buzzing with the announcement of a new comedy-drama, “Mother's Pride,” featuring an impressive ensemble cast. Filming has wrapped in picturesque locations across Somerset and Wiltshire, and the movie is anticipated to be a significant addition to the list of Britain’s independent films.
The plot of “Mother’s Pride” centers around a struggling pub, a divided community, and a bereaved family that finds solace and purpose in brewing real ale as they enter the Great British Beer Awards. The film explores themes of community, loss, and resilience, presenting a serious yet heartwarming narrative.
Martinel Clunes, renowned for his long-standing role in the ITV drama “Doc Martin,” leads the cast as Mick Harley, a pivotal character in the story. Joining him are celebrated actors such as Jonno Davies from “Better Man” and James Buckley known for “The Inbetweeners,” who respectively take on roles as Cal and Jake Harley. Gabriella Wilde, noted for her performances in “Poldark,” plays Abi, with Mark Addy from “Game of Thrones” as Paxman.
The film also showcases the talents of Lana Moorcroft of “Fisherman’s Friends: One and All” as Romy, Luke Treadaway from “A Street Cat Named Bob” as Edward Pritchard, and Miles Jupp from “The Full Monty” as Jeremy.
The screenplay is written by Nick Moorcroft and Meg Leonard, both credited with the success of “Fisherman’s Friends,” and it is directed by Nick Moorcroft. The project is produced by Entertainment Film Distributors, yet the release date is still unconfirmed.
Adding to the excitement, Martin Clunes is reported to be working alongside Neil Morrissey in a upcoming UK TV Gold series, “Neil & Martin’s Bon Voyage,” which is scheduled to air in 2025. The series will feature the duo on a road trip across France, exploring culture and cuisine.
