Star-Studded Comedy Show Supports Veterans on Veterans Day
New York, NY – Veterans Day 2025 saw an entertaining gathering as Bob and Lee Woodruff hosted the annual Stand Up for Heroes at David Geffen Hall. The event celebrated veterans and featured prominent comedians and performers.
This year’s lineup included renowned comedians Jon Stewart, Jim Gaffigan, Alex Edelman, Mike Birbiglia, and Tom Papa. The audience was also treated to musical performances from Tony Award winners Leslie Odom Jr., Lea Michele, and Idina Menzel. Odom made a special appearance during his day off from starring in Broadway’s “Hamilton.”
Though attendees enjoyed the performances, some were disappointed by the absence of Bruce Springsteen, who did not share his signature humor this year. During a key moment of the event, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, a known associate of former President Trump, pledged a generous donation of $250,000 to support veterans.
“You know what I don’t look good in anymore? Pictures,” joked Jon Stewart, reflecting on aging. The event aims to raise funds for veterans who have been injured in service, a cause close to Bob Woodruff’s heart. After surviving a roadside bomb attack in Iraq in 2006, Woodruff suffered serious injuries but has since dedicated his life to aiding veterans.
Woodruff and his wife Lee have worked tirelessly through their foundation to support soldiers and their families, emphasizing the need for continued assistance and awareness. They are recognized for their commitment to improving the lives of veterans across the country.
