Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Returns for 20th Anniversary Theatrical Release

LOS ANGELES, California — Lucasfilm announced that *Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith* will return to theaters on April 25, 2025, to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary. This limited engagement offers fans the opportunity to see one of the most pivotal entries in the *Star Wars* franchise on the big screen once again.
Originally released in 2005, *Revenge of the Sith* chronicles the tragic transformation of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker into the Sith Lord Darth Vader, leading to the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The film features iconic scenes including breathtaking lightsaber duels, high-stakes battles, and powerful betrayals that have become unforgettable moments in the *Star Wars* saga.
The re-release will be available for a week in select U.S. theaters and international markets and will feature multiple viewing formats, including the immersive 4DX, which utilizes motion chairs and environmental effects to enhance the viewing experience. This will be the first time *Revenge of the Sith* is shown in this format.
Adding to the excitement, acclaimed graphic artist Matt Ferguson has created a new poster for the re-release that depicts a striking image of Darth Vader’s helmet overshadowing Anakin Skywalker, emphasizing his descent into darkness. The artwork also features the climactic duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi against the backdrop of a burning Coruscant skyline.
In the story, set during the Clone Wars, Anakin, portrayed by Hayden Christensen, must navigate the growing conflict as the noble Jedi Knights lead clone armies against the Separatists. A sinister plots unfold as the Sith attempt to seize control of the galaxy, ultimately leading to Anakin’s seduction to the dark side, where he becomes the Emperor’s apprentice.
The film stars notable actors including Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Natalie Portman as Padmé Amidala, Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine, and features appearances by other legendary actors such as Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee. George Lucas wrote and directed the film, which provides a critical commentary on themes of democracy and betrayal.
