Star Wars Skeleton Crew Cast On Set

Disney+’s Star Wars series Skeleton Crew has captivated audiences with its adventurous tale of four children navigating the galaxy. The show, created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, follows 10-year-old KB (Kyriana Kratter), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) as they embark on a journey after discovering an abandoned starship. The young cast recently shared behind-the-scenes stories about their experiences filming the series.

Kyriana Kratter, who plays the cybernetically enhanced KB, revealed that her character’s journey mirrored her own personal growth. “KB was learning how to speak up in episode six, and I was also learning how to speak up when I was on set,” Kratter told The Hollywood Reporter. She described how director Bryce Dallas Howard encouraged her to take creative risks, such as requesting an angrier take for a pivotal scene.

The series, which blends Amblin-inspired storytelling with the Star Wars universe, required extensive preparation from the young actors. Kratter and her co-stars bonded during months of fittings, rehearsals, and even movie nights watching classics like E.T. and The Goonies. “We immediately became best friends,” Kratter said of her first meeting with the cast at Manhattan Beach Studios.

KB’s character, who has cybernetic implants and a visor, represents a unique perspective on disability within the Star Wars galaxy. Kratter explained that KB’s augmentations, or “augs,” are both a strength and a challenge. “Part of KB likes that Fern treats her like an equal, but, in reality, KB is different,” Kratter said. “That’s okay, but it gets to a point where Fern treats her so normally that she puts KB’s life in danger.”

The series also features Jude Law as the disgraced pirate Jod Na Nawood, who serves as both a mentor and antagonist to the children. Kratter described Law as a “set father” who bonded with the young cast. “He did Secret Santa with us, and I was so happy that I got him,” she recalled. “I made him this little drawing of all of us as little bears, and his daughter told me that he has it framed in his office.”

As the series approaches its finale, Kratter teased a dramatic conclusion. When asked for a cryptic hint, she simply said, “Death.” Fans will have to tune in to see how the story unfolds for KB and her friends.
