Andie Macdowell Jared Padalecki Filming

HIGH RIVER, AlbertaAndie MacDowell, Jared Padalecki, and Leighton Meester will be in High River to film Netflix‘s upcoming movie, *The Bodyguard*, from December 4 to 6. The film will notably shoot during the town’s annual Santa Claus Parade on December 5, promising a unique experience for attendees.

The romantic-comedy is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, recognized for her work on *Ginny & Georgia*. It is based on Katherine Center‘s 2022 novel of the same name. The storyline follows Jack Stapleton, played by Padalecki, a Hollywood heartthrob returning to his family’s ranch for the holidays. He is assigned a bodyguard, Hannah Brooks, portrayed by Meester, after facing a stalker. In an effort to protect his ailing mother from the truth, Jack asks Hannah to pose as his girlfriend.

Ted Dawson, the organizer of the Santa Claus Parade, highlighted the festive spirit this year, hinting that one of the stars might even sing on a parade float. Although the details remain under wraps, Dawson emphasized the excitement surrounding the collaboration. The film crew will continue filming post-parade as well.

Filming is expected to impact local traffic, particularly on MacLeod Trail SW and 1 Street SW, where road closures are likely. For easier access, Dawson suggests parking along the old CPR right-of-way or behind the United Church. More information regarding road closures will be shared as the event approaches.

Dawson also announced that they are still looking for volunteers and float registrations for the parade. Those interested can sign up at highriverchristmas.ca. As the filming dates approach, the town is gearing up for an unforgettable twist on their holiday festivities.
