Starz Announces March 7 Premiere for ‘Raising Kanan’ Season 4
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Starz has set March 7 as the premiere date for the fourth season of “Raising Kanan,” the popular prequel to the hit series “Power.” New episodes will debut weekly on Fridays, available for streaming on the Starz app and all Starz platforms.
The upcoming season promises high-stakes drama as the Thomas family faces the return of Unique (Joey Bada$$), who was presumed dead. The official description reveals that Unique’s violent comeback will disrupt the family’s attempts at a fresh start, forcing them to confront their true natures in a battle for survival.
Season 4 introduces new cast members, including Pardison Fontaine and Chris Redd, alongside returning stars Mekai Curtis as Kanan, Patina Miller as Raq, and Tony Danza. The series is executive produced by “Power” creator Courtney A. Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, with Sascha Penn serving as showrunner.
“Raising Kanan” is the second of three “Power” spinoffs, following “Power Book II: Ghost” and preceding “Power Book IV: Force.” The show has garnered a dedicated fanbase for its exploration of Kanan Stark’s origins and the complex dynamics of the Thomas family.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Joey Bada$$ teased Unique’s transformation in Season 4, describing him as “more hyperactive, irritable, and rageful” following his near-death experience. Showrunner Sascha Penn emphasized the importance of explaining Unique’s survival in a way that respects the audience’s intelligence and connection to the series.
Season 4 will delve into the fallout from Season 3’s shocking finale, including Raq’s decision to kill Kanan’s father, Howard, in front of her son. Penn highlighted the central role of Kanan and Raq’s relationship, stating, “The spine of this series has always been Kanan’s relationship with his mother.”
Fans can expect a tense and action-packed season as the Thomas family navigates Unique’s return and the consequences of their past decisions. “Raising Kanan” Season 4 premieres March 7 on Starz.
