States Declare Holidays For Ram Mandir Inauguration: Check Full List Here

The upcoming ‘Pran Prathishtha’ ceremony for the Ram Mandir, scheduled for January 22, has prompted several states and central governments to declare a public holiday or half-day in honor of this significant Hindu event.

The Department of Personnel and Training announced that all central government offices will be closed for a half-day on January 22 on the occasion of the Pran Pratishta ceremony of Ram Mandir idol at Ayodhya Ram Temple.

Several states have also declared holidays or half-days to allow employees to participate in the celebrations. Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Haryana, Odisha, Assam, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and Puducherry are among the states that have made such declarations.

For instance, Tripura has declared a half-day holiday until 2:30 pm on January 22, while Chhattisgarh has announced the closure of all government offices until the same time.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh has directed the closure of educational institutions, and liquor shops will remain closed throughout the state on that day. Madhya Pradesh has declared a school holiday and a dry day, closing all types of shops.

Gujarat and Uttarakhand have also announced the closure of government offices until 2:30 pm on January 22, and in Maharashtra, a public holiday has been declared. The General Administration Department in Maharashtra issued a notification following the footsteps of the central government.

With the Ram Temple Inauguration, these states aim to ensure that their employees can participate in the historic event. The ‘Pran Prathishtha’ ceremony holds immense religious and cultural importance, and by declaring holidays or half-days, the states are allowing their citizens to celebrate and be a part of this momentous occasion.
