Seth Altman Manhunt Texas

A statewide manhunt is underway in Texas following an incident involving a police officer’s injury. The suspect, 33-year-old Seth Altman, is believed to be involved in the shooting of a law enforcement officer in Memphis, Texas, according to authorities.

The Texas Department of Safety reported that Altman is “wanted for the involvement in the killing or serious injury of a law enforcement officer.” The incident, which occurred late Thursday night, prompted the issuance of a Blue Alert early Friday morning.

Altman was last seen in the 200 block of South Fourth Street in Memphis, wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans. Authorities describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds, with blue eyes and red or auburn hair. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The police officer, who has not been identified, was reportedly shot multiple times during a confrontation when police were delivering a warrant to Altman on a burglary charge. Following the shooting, the officer was flown to a hospital in Lubbock, where he remains in stable condition.

The Texas Rangers have been called in to assist with the investigation, which is being treated as an attempted capital murder case. In response to the situation, classes at Memphis Independent School District have been delayed until 10 a.m.

The Blue Alert Program, established in 2008, aims to expedite the apprehension of suspects who have seriously injured or killed law enforcement officers. The program requires certain criteria to be met before an alert can be issued.
