Power Outage Jefferson Parish Storm

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — A storm system moving through Louisiana left more than 9,000 Entergy customers without power on Friday evening. According to Entergy, the outage primarily affected communities in Estelle, Jean Lafitte, and Barataria.

The outage map indicated 9,369 customers were without electricity after disruptions began around 8:30 p.m. The estimated restoration time is expected to be around 11:00 p.m. Friday. Entergy crews are currently working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

“We are aware of the outage in Jefferson Parish impacting approximately 9,000 customers. Crews are on the scene now working to make repairs,” said an Entergy spokesperson.

The storm system, moving in from the west, is expected to bring additional rain and thunderstorms to the area throughout the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued warnings regarding the possibility of severe weather, including damaging winds and localized flooding.

Officials reassured residents that the much-needed rain from the system may help alleviate ongoing drought conditions across southeast Louisiana.

As the storm develops, residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and to prepare for possible additional power outages and hazardous conditions.
