Stowaway Discovered on Delta Air Lines Flight from New York to Paris
A significant security breach was uncovered during the Thanksgiving travel rush when a stowaway was discovered on a Delta Air Lines flight from New York‘s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Paris‘ Charles de Gaulle Airport. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, with the woman managing to board the sold-out Delta flight 264 without a ticket or proper identification.
According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the stowaway completed a full security screening but somehow bypassed two “identity verification and boarding status stations” before boarding the aircraft. It remains unclear how she evaded these checks. Witnesses reported that she attempted to hide during the flight by moving between the bathrooms.
The FBI is aware of the incident, and Delta Air Lines is conducting an exhaustive investigation in collaboration with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement. The airline emphasized that safety and security are of the utmost importance and will work to ensure such incidents do not recur.
In a separate incident, another Delta flight from Paris to Atlanta was diverted due to an unruly passenger. This incident is part of a larger trend, with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reporting over 1,800 cases of unruly passengers this year.
