Stranger Things Season 5 Cast Filming Set

LOS GATOS, Calif. — Netflix‘s acclaimed series Stranger Things is set to conclude in 2025 with its fifth and final season, building anticipation after more than two years since the release of Season 4. The Duffer Brothers, who created the series, have revealed that the storyline has been meticulously planned for seven years, culminating in this last installment which promises to wrap up long-standing mysteries surrounding the Upside Down.

Fans were first introduced to the chilling figure of Vecna, also known as Henry Creel, during Season 4. Following a tense final chapter, the series creators confirmed this upcoming season will see characters confronting the ultimate threats faced by their beloved Hawkins gang. “We’re now hurtling toward our finale,” they wrote in a recent social media announcement.

Writing for Season 5 commenced on August 2, 2022, shortly after the debut of Season 4, Volume 2. However, filming was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strike in 2023, but resumed in January 2024. The cast and crew reportedly wrapped filming on December 20, 2024, with Netflix confirming the release for sometime in 2025.

In March 2025, Sadie Sink, who portrays Max Mayfield, shared her thoughts on wrapping the series during a SXSW panel. “It’s so emotional… it was a really hard day, but what a beautiful experience I’ve had for eight years of my life,” Sink said, hinting at the emotional weight viewers can expect from this concluding chapter.

The returning cast for this final season includes series staples Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, and Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, among others. New to the cast is Linda Hamilton, best known for her role in the Terminator franchise, though her character details remain undisclosed.

As new faces appear, including players Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux, there will also be some absences. Joseph Quinn, who gained popularity as Eddie Munson in Season 4, will not return, as the Duffer Brothers confirmed his character’s fate during a podcast discussion.

Stranger Things Season 5 will have eight episodes, with titles revealing intriguing glimpses into the narrative ahead. Episode 1 is titled “The Crawl,” while Episode 2 is intriguingly redacted. The finale will be called “The Rightside Up,” hinting at potential plot twists and connections to the Upside Down. Production continues to hint at an overarching storyline that explores the mythos established throughout previous seasons.

The Duffer Brothers hinted at a significant time jump in Season 5, with the story unfolding a year after the events of Season 4’s dramatic conclusion. This fast-paced narrative will aim to resolve fan theories surrounding the Upside Down and connect various character storylines in a climactic conclusion.

In a teaser released on Stranger Things Day, Netflix showcased the episode titles along with a chilling opening scene description, saying, “The first scene will open in darkness with the sound of cold wind and groaning trees with an unnamed child singing ‘a familiar song.'” With this blend of nostalgic imagery and suspense, both fans and newcomers are bracing for a thrilling wrap-up to this iconic series.

As production wraps up and anticipation builds, fans are left wondering about the future of the Stranger Things universe, with discussions about potential spin-offs and continuations hinted at by the creators. Though the original series will soon conclude, the legacy of Stranger Things is likely to resonate for years to come.
