Stree 2 Hits ₹190 Crore At The Box Office

Amar Kaushik‘s latest horror-comedy, Stree 2, has been making waves at the box office since its release. Over the weekend, the film pulled in an impressive ₹55 crore nett in India on Sunday alone, marking its second-highest single-day collection.

Stree 2 has amassed a total of ₹190.55 crore nett in just four days. The film, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has been enjoying a fantastic run with a 70.41% occupancy rate in theaters. Notably, Bengaluru saw a whopping 84% turnout on Sunday.

This sequel continues the story that began with the 2018 hit Stree, which kicked off Maddock Films‘ horror-comedy universe. Alongside the lead actors, the film also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana.

The opening of Stree 2 coincided with India’s Independence Day, August 15, and it covered an impressive distance at the box office from day one, collecting ₹8.5 crore from preview shows, followed by ₹51.8 crore on the opening day, ₹31.4 crore on the second day, and ₹43.85 crore on the third day.

Alongside Stree 2, three other films released the same day, but none could match its success. While Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa struggled to gain traction, Chiyaan Vikram’s Thangalaan managed to perform a little better.

The story of Stree 2 revolves around the characters who dealt with a haunting mystery in the first film but are now faced with a new terror, a headless ghost named Sarkata.

Kangana Ranaut recently shared her appreciation for the film and director Amar Kaushik, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the contributions of directors in the Indian film industry.
