Tallahassee Police Training Exercise With Tactical Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is alerting residents about a training exercise conducted by its Tactical Apprehension and Control (TAC) Team set for Thursday, with activities scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Adams Street.

During the exercise, the TPD has warned that the local community may experience loud bangs, crashes, and sirens. Additionally, officers will be present with firearms displayed. This training aims to enhance the readiness and effectiveness of the TAC Team in responding to real-life situations.

TPD spokesperson Officer Jenna Smith emphasized the importance of informing the public. “We want to ensure that our residents are aware of this exercise so there are no alarmed reactions to the sounds or presence of officers,” she said. “This is standard training designed to prepare our team for various scenarios they may face in the line of duty.”

Local residents are encouraged to avoid the immediate area of the training exercise to ensure their safety and to minimize any disruption to the training session. TPD advises that once the training is complete, normal activities in the area will resume.

Tallahassee Police has assured the community that public safety remains a top priority during such exercises. For ongoing updates or to reach TPD regarding any concerns, residents can follow WCTV on its online platforms or use the WCTV News app for the latest information.
