Freedom High School Tampa Lockdown Police Search

TAMPA, Fla. — Freedom High School in Tampa was placed on lockdown Friday morning following reports of an armed individual on campus, according to the Tampa Police Department. No injuries or shots fired have been reported as authorities continue their search for the suspect.

The lockdown was initiated after two students reported seeing someone with a weapon on school grounds. Hillsborough County school officials confirmed the reports, though no suspect has been located. Police and school security personnel are conducting a thorough search of the campus.

“We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff,” a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said. “At this time, there is no evidence of an active threat, but we are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness.”

Parents were notified of the lockdown through the school district’s emergency alert system. Many gathered near the campus, awaiting updates from authorities. “It’s terrifying to think something like this could happen here,” said one parent, who asked not to be named. “I just want to know my child is safe.”

Freedom High School, located in the northern part of Tampa, serves approximately 2,000 students. The school has implemented safety protocols, including lockdown drills, in recent years to prepare for such emergencies.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
