San Antonio School Shooting Scene

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio teenager was fatally shot following a brawl involving several students outside of Brewer Academy on Monday afternoon, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. as students were leaving school. SAPD reported that a group of seven to eight juveniles became involved in an altercation at the intersection of South Elmendorf and Merida Street, just outside the academy.

During the confrontation, one of the students allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim. SAPD officials confirmed that when police arrived, the injured teen was found unresponsive. Emergency medical services worked to stabilize him before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have stated that no further altercations were reported on campus before or after the incident, suggesting that this may have been an isolated event.

Investigators noted that the assailants involved were all between 14 and 17 years old, but none have been formally identified, nor has the shooter been determined. A thorough investigation is underway to ascertain whether the firearm was brought onto school grounds.

In a separate incident earlier that day, two students from Stevens High School sustained injuries during a fight that occurred off campus. Police reported that two male students were involved, with one being stabbed in the back. The victim was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

San Antonio police are urging anyone with information related to either incident to reach out as they continue their inquiries.
