Tekken 8: Unlocking the Alternate Ending in Story Mode
In the highly anticipated fighting game Tekken 8, players are once again immersed in the gripping story mode titled The Dark Awakens. This installment focuses on the Mishima family and their ongoing struggle with the infamous Devil gene. Players take on the role of Jin Kazama, determined to end his father’s tyrannical reign of terror. The game also brings back Jin’s mother, Jun, and introduces a new character named Reina, who is part of a trio of important figures.
One interesting feature of The Dark Awakens is that it offers two different endings. Each ending not only provides players with a unique Trophy/Achievement but also a distinct mid-credits scene. Unlocking the alternate ending is relatively straightforward as players need to replay one of the 15 story mode chapters and make different choices.
To unlock the alternate ending, players must intentionally lose the final battle against Kazuya. This can be challenging, as running out of health during most phases of the fight will lead to a game over screen. However, players should wait until the final phase when Kazuya glows red. Losing all health at this point triggers the alternate ending, allowing players to obtain the coveted Despair Trophy/Achievement.
If players manage to defeat Kazuya in the final battle, they will unlock the Hope ending. This ending shows Jin reflecting on his hard-won victory before receiving a message from his mother, Jun. As Jin and Xiaoyu ride off into the sunset, a mysterious woman’s legs can be seen approaching Kazuya’s motionless body. In a mid-credits scene, this woman is revealed to be Reina, who unveils that she is Heihachi’s daughter. She then transforms into Devil Reina, indicating that the Devil gene persists.
