Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the Telegram Messenger app, recently made a surprising revelation: he has over 100 biological children around the globe, all without ever being married.

The 39-year-old entrepreneur shared this unusual story on his popular channel. Fifteen years ago, a friend approached him with a unique request. His friend and his wife were struggling to conceive, and they asked Durov if he would be willing to donate sperm at a clinic.

At first, Durov found the request amusing, but soon realized his friend was serious. The clinic director informed him that there was a shortage of ‘high-quality donor material,’ which encouraged Durov to register as a sperm donor.

Fast forward to 2024, Durov learned that his past donations had helped more than 100 couples across 12 countries. He also mentioned that even after he stopped donating, some of his frozen sperm is still available for couples looking to conceive.

Durov expressed his desire to open-source his DNA so that his biological children could find him in the future. He acknowledged the potential risks involved but stated that he has no regrets about being a donor. He believes that donating sperm can significantly help families facing infertility challenges.

In addition to sharing his story, Durov encouraged healthy men to consider sperm donation, pointing out the growing global shortage of healthy sperm.

Originally from Russia, Durov is now an Emirati entrepreneur who was recognized as the richest expat in the United Arab Emirates by Forbes in 2022 and was named the most powerful entrepreneur in Dubai by Arabian Business in early 2023.
