Motorists in Southwold are being advised of potential delays as Park Lane is scheduled for a temporary closure next week due to carriageway resurfacing works. According to Suffolk Highways, the maintenance is essential to improve the condition of the road and ensure the safety of its users.

In a statement, a Suffolk Highways spokesperson confirmed, “Carriageway resurfacing will be taking place along Park Lane, Southwold between 8am and 6pm on Wednesday, October 23, Thursday, October 24, and Friday, October 25. During this time, the road will be closed to ensure the safety of highway users and our operatives.”

The resurfacing will necessitate a 440-meter diversion route through Queens Street, Queens Road, and Gardener Road. Drivers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to the temporary signs and signals in place.

To facilitate the works, Suffolk Highways requests that local road users move their vehicles from areas marked with ‘no parking’ cones. “To enable us to carry out the works as planned, we ask that local road users please move their vehicles from the areas highlighted by ‘no parking’ cones,” the spokesperson added.

The Causeway One Network roadworks map has flagged the project, indicating likely delays during the planned operations. Residents and frequent users of Park Lane are advised to anticipate changes in their travel plans over the next week.
