Brandon Allen Nfl Quarterback Signing News

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans have signed quarterback Brandon Allen to a one-year deal, adding depth to their quarterback roster as they navigate their off-season strategy. The signing comes after the Titans’ previous starting quarterback agreed to part ways with the team earlier today.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Allen’s contract allows for a reunion with Titans head coach Brian Callahan, who previously served as the offensive coordinator while Allen played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2020 to 2022. Allen has been a backup quarterback for much of his career and is stepping into a critical role for the Titans as they face uncertainty at the quarterback position.

Allen, 32, spent the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, where he did not see any game action in 2023, functioning as the third-string quarterback. In the 2024 season, he appeared in three games, making one start, and completed 17 of 30 passes for 199 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Titans are now evaluating their options as they hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. With the potential to select a top college quarterback such as Cam Ward, Allen’s signing could suggest a focus on nurturing a competition rather than an outright commitment to one single player. Ward is highly regarded and could provide a long-term solution for Tennessee.

Currently, the Titans’ roster includes Will Levis, who has two years remaining on his rookie contract but struggled during the previous season, leading to questions about his future with the franchise. This latest move may indicate the organization is considering multiple pathways for developing their quarterback situation.

Allen’s familiarity with Callahan’s system is anticipated to provide stability as the Titans weigh their options during the upcoming draft. Allen has accumulated 1,810 career passing yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions across five NFL seasons, which includes stints with the Denver Broncos in addition to the Bengals and 49ers.

While the Titans remain in negotiations regarding their draft strategy, the addition of Allen potentially decreases the likelihood of Levis serving as a starter in the near term, leading to an interesting competition as the Titans lay the groundwork for the 2025 season.
