KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — The No. 15 Tennessee Volunteers (2-1) will host the UAB Blazers (2-1) on Saturday, September 20, 2025. This matchup comes after Tennessee’s narrow 44-41 overtime defeat against No. 6 Georgia. Despite the loss, Tennessee’s quarterback Joey Aguilar threw for an impressive 371 yards and four touchdowns.

While the Volunteers excel offensively, averaging 52.7 points per game, their defense struggles, allowing 29 points per game, ranking 105th in the nation. UAB also faces challenges, particularly on defense, allowing 472.7 total yards per game.

The Blazers come off a close 31-28 victory over Akron, with Jalen Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, leading the UAB offense. He has completed 70.6% of his passes this season, totaling 588 yards and four touchdowns.

Tennessee is looking to maintain its perfect record against UAB, having defeated them in all five previous contests since their first matchup in 1998. The last victory came in 2019, where Tennessee won by a score of 30-7.
